Understanding ABA
ABA therapy is grounded in the science of learning and behavior. It’s designed to help individuals with developmental differences build meaningful skills such as communication, social interaction, self-care, and play, while also reducing behaviors that may interfere with everyday life. More importantly, ABA focuses on helping children and families achieve goals that make life easier and more fulfilling. Our purpose is not just skill-building but improving quality of life in ways that truly matter to you and your child.
No. ABA therapy is about much more than reducing challenging behaviors. We also focus on building communication, social skills, independence, and coping strategies. Our goal is to support your child’s overall development and quality of life.
Our approach is guided by compassion, cultural awareness, and family collaboration. We don’t believe in a “one size fits all” model. Instead, we tailor treatment to each child’s pace, needs, and family priorities. Parents are active partners in setting goals, and we value their input in every decision. Our structured clinical support teams are designed to keep families at the heart of treatment, ensuring care is respectful, inclusive, and focused on long-term, meaningful progress.
Getting Started
In many cases, yes. Some insurance companies and funding sources require a formal autism diagnosis to approve ABA services, especially for older children. However, early intervention programs may allow children under age three to begin services without a formal diagnosis. If you don’t yet have a diagnosis, we can guide you through the process and help you understand your options. For families interested in private pay, therapy can begin without waiting for a diagnosis.
Many insurance plans, including Medicaid, provide coverage for ABA therapy, but the level of coverage depends on your specific plan. We currently work with a limited number of insurance companies, which are listed at the bottom of our website. If your insurance is not listed or you do not have coverage, we also offer the option to pay out of pocket. We are happy to schedule a consultation to discuss private pay options and help you understand the best path forward for your family.
We provide flexible options for where therapy takes place, including at home, in the community, and through virtual sessions. This flexibility allows learning to happen in the environments that matter most to your child and family. It also helps promote consistency and generalization, so skills practiced in therapy sessions carry over into daily routines and real-life situations.
In some cases, yes. We would need to communicate with your child’s school to see if they allow outside providers. Some schools welcome collaboration, while others have strict rules and only allow their own staff to provide support. We are happy to advocate alongside you and explore all available options.
Therapy Process
Sessions are tailored to your child’s goals and needs. Therapy may include play-based learning, structured activities, social skills practice, or daily living skills. Our focus is always on creating a safe, supportive, and engaging environment where your child feels comfortable learning. Parents are encouraged to participate whenever possible so skills can be reinforced at home.
Goals are created collaboratively. While our team uses assessments and clinical expertise to guide recommendations, parents and caregivers play a central role in deciding what is most important. We want goals to not only support your child’s growth but also make life easier and more meaningful for your entire family.
The number of hours is based on your child’s individual needs and your family’s goals. Our clinical team will provide transparent recommendations, but we also respect your availability and priorities. We believe some therapy is better than no therapy, and we will work together to create a schedule that balances progress with what works best for your family.
Yes — and we believe that’s one of the most important parts of treatment. Parent and caregiver involvement ensures that skills learned in therapy carry over into everyday life. We provide ongoing parent education and coaching so you feel confident supporting your child at home, school, and in the community.
We track progress through ongoing data collection, observations, and team reviews. Families receive regular updates and have opportunities to discuss progress and next steps with their clinical team. This ensures that you always know how your child is growing, what skills are being developed, and how we can adjust goals together to keep treatment effective and meaningful.
Progress looks different for every child. Some families notice small changes within weeks, while other goals may take months or longer to develop. We track data consistently so you can see your child’s growth, and we adjust strategies as needed to make sure progress continues.
Long-Term Process
Graduation looks different for every child. It depends on the goals you set, your child’s progress, and your family’s vision for the future. Some families may choose to focus on building independence in daily living skills, while others may want support with communication, socialization, or reducing challenging behaviors. Together, we’ll review progress regularly and discuss next steps so you always know what to expect.
